Lifenol™ is a natural, low-dose solution delivering effective phytoestrogen, prenylnaringenin (8-PN). A single 85 mg dose has been clinically shown to alleviate distressing menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and sleep problems in two separate studies.² ³ It is also clinically demonstrated to support bone health.³
Lifenol™ is sourced from the hops capital of the world – Hallertau in Germany. The hops we use to produce Lifenol™ are grown and harvested sustainably, in accordance with the principles of our Sourcing4Good programme, which promotes responsible practices across our supply chains, while improving both producer livelihoods and the environmental impacts of our products. The hops used in Lifenol™ enjoy full traceability from field to final product.
Our hops suppliers are committed to our responsible sourcing practices, and we work closely with them to drive tangible actions to protect and promote the environment and the wellbeing of the communities where we source ingredients.
Hops are the female flowers or seed cones of Humulus lupulus, a climbing vine with a long history of use in beer making. In North American traditional medicine, hops were used both to alleviate breast and womb problems, and as a sleep aid. ⁷
In 1953, Koch and Heim discovered that hops had oestrogenic properties, but were unable to identify the active substance.⁸ Nearly 50 years later, in 1999, Milligan et al reported that hops’ estrogenic effect was caused by a unique molecule: 8-prenylnaringenin, known as 8-PN – a naturally occurring plant phytoestrogen.⁸
Two independent, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials have demonstrated that Lifenol™ effectively manages menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes and sleep disturbances.
A 2023 clinical study – another gold-standard, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial – has shown that Lifenol™ supports bone health in postmenopausal women with osteopenia.³ Supplementation with 85 mg per day for 48 weeks, along with standard-of-care vitamin D3 and calcium daily supplementation, significantly improved total bone mineral density by 1.8% compared to baseline.³
What’s really interesting is that it increased by 1% compared to supplementation with vitamin D3 and calcium alone. The participants taking Lifenol™ also reported a significant improvement in their physical quality of life and functional health (like participating in vigorous physical activity) compared to placebo.
Based on the strong scientific evidence, Lifenol™ has been awarded health claims in two countries. - The South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has authorised the health claim on Lifenol™ + Soy extract blend: “May help to maintain female health in menopause.” ⁵ - Health Canada has granted LifenolTM a Natural Product Number and the health claim: “May help relieve menopausal discomforts/complaints.” ⁶

Lifenol™ hops enjoy full traceability and strict quality monitoring from field to final product. We select varieties of female hops with a high content of specific prenylflavonoids, and carefully screen the raw materials to validate the species and identify potential adulterants.
Our hops are sourced exclusively from Hallertau – the world hops capital – in Germany, from suppliers who are genuine partners. Their expertise and care for the unique environment in which they operate ensures that the high quality raw material that powers Lifenol™ is delivered in a sustainable manner with full traceability from field to final product.
By working together, we ensure all our suppliers share our commitment to responsible sourcing.
Generally considered healthier and more nutritious than the other main cereals, oats offer a full range of benefits in a single ingredient. OatWell™ can be provided in three different concentrations of beta-glucans, all delivering both soluble and insoluble fibres, along with an average of 21% - 23% protein.
OatWell™ uses a unique production process to fractionate the oat kernel into three product lines: beta-glucan products, oat flours, and oat oils. Our production process preserves the native structure of oat beta-glucans, retaining their high molecular weight during fractionation into oat brans with a high amount of beta-glucans.
The molecular weight of oat beta-glucan is essential to delivering health benefits. OatWell™'s beta-glucan has a very high molecular weight (2000-2500 kDa as naturally found in oats), which contributes to its unique viscosity and thickening properties. This viscosity has an important impact on physiological functions, such as reducing blood cholesterol levels, moderating blood glucose and insulin levels, and potentially benefiting satiety.
Benefits of OatWell’s high molecular weight:
The prebiotic effects of oat bran fibre have been validated through years of research. In a review by Malkki and Virtanen, they cite: “in the large bowel, soluble dietary fibre increases the fermentation activity, especially production of butyric acid, enhances growth and colonisation of some probiotic bacterial strains, increases production of microbial mass and thereby aids the removal of nitrogen via faeces. It also increases wet weight of stools, thereby alleviating constipation”.²¹
Research conducted on oat beta-glucan demonstrates that it meets three important criteria, confirming its status as a prebiotic fibre:¹ ²
